I have been in the field of Human Services for sixty years. I have a varied background in Ministry, Mental-Health, and Counseling, specializing in service to low-income youth and their families and culturally diverse communities.
For 35 years my particular focus has been mental-health service of MediCal children and their families.
For 23 of those years, I was a Clinical Supervisor for a nonprofit agency that grew to became one of the largest providers of mental-health services for children in the State of California. In collaboration with Children and Youth Services of Mental Health and the Human Services Agency, we established the Foster Care Assessment and Treatment Process (FCAT), which pioneered in the State collaborative assessments for foster children and youth. Its clinical staff gained the respect of the County Department of Mental Health, the Human Services Agency, and the Juvenile Dependency Court System. Since then I continue my service to MediCal children.
I am bilingual in Spanish and English and have cultural competence in working with various ethnic communities.
